Not all dampers can be repaired, as it depends on the type of mechanism and how it was damaged. We do from time to time have some dampers that have come from past customers’ houses that have no need for their damper any longer (such as installing an insert into the fireplace). We may have one that fits your needs. If not, there is a product called a lock-top or top-sealing damper that is available. Keep in mind, this sort of damper cannot be used with gas log sets. Its good practice to make sure as you are loading your wood stove or insert to be careful that logs are not pushing up against the glass on the door and you are careful not to hit the door with the wood. But accidents happen and sometimes glass fails over time. We would be happy to order a glass repair kit that you can install yourself or schedule a service call with us to make these repairs. We are only able to order these kits if it’s from a manufacturer we carry.
